Josh Plauny began his healthcare career at VCU Health System in 2001 after serving as a U.S. Marine. With a Master of Healthcare Administration from VCU, Plauny managed orthopedic services and set up joint replacement centers at Sentara Healthcare.   

In 2014, Plauny returned to VCU Health, doubling surgical volume and improving OR efficiency as director of perioperative services. Since 2017, he has led supply chain improvements, saving over $92M in non-labor expenses from FY18–FY24.
