It’s a Jungle Out There: What a Monkey can Teach Us about Data Management

How we classify products is critical, from sourcing alternative products to applying analytics to advance evidence-based decision-making. But for many, developing a methodology and taxonomy can seem daunting. In the 18th century, Carl Linnaeus published a system for classifying and naming complex, living organisms. He understood the need for a framework that is consistent yet agile. His foresight provides a structure that can support better communication and alignment across multiple parties, and take the complexity (which can erode quality) and confusion out of the process.

*Session title is The Nature of Product Classification in the printed program.
