Mr. Derek C. Cooper serves as the Defense Health Agency J-4/MEDLOG Medical Materiel & Standardization Division Chief. He graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, Arizona in 1991 with a Baccalaureate degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He retired from the active Army in 2021 after 30 years serving in various healthcare administration and medical logistics roles. He served multiple overseas tours to include Germany, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and at various locations in the United States. He commanded at the Company, Battalion, and twice at the Brigade level, culminating as the Commander, 65th MED BDE and US Army Medical Activity – Korea. He holds advanced degrees in strategic studies and logistics management. He is a Certified Materiel & Resource Professional (CMRP) and Project Management Professional (PMP). In 2023, Derek entered federal civilian service for Army Medical Logistics Command before transitioning to his current role with DHA in 2026.
