Conrad S. Emmerich is chief procurement officer and senior vice president of Supply Chain Management at Advocate Health, the third largest nonprofit health system in the country, headquartered in Charlotte, NC. Prior to this, he was chief procurement officer and senior vice president for Supply Chain Management, Laboratory and Imaging Services for Atrium Health before its merger with Advocate Aurora Health in 2022. In addition, he also serves as the president and CEO of Advocate Health Supply Chain Alliance (AHSCA), a group purchasing organization.
In his current roles, Emmerich leads the supply chain functions supporting more than 1.400 teammates in 69 hospitals and over 2,000 care locations in six states, managing over $10B in contracted spend across four Southeastern and two Midwestern states.
Emmerich has over 22 years of leadership in healthcare supply chain. Prior to joining Atrium Health in November of 2020, he was the senior vice president of Business Services at Wake Forest Baptist Health, where he led Supply Chain, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Imaging Services, and other functions supporting daily operations of the healthcare system. He spent ten years at Wake Forest Baptist Health, with progressively increasing roles of responsibility.
Notably, Emmerich was recognized by Modern Healthcare as a top 25 Innovator in 2019. His implementation of Real- Time Location Services (RTLS) at Wake Forest Baptist Health for asset tracking, temperature monitoring, patient throughput, and other workflow efficiencies continues to lead the industry. He also oversaw the Country’s first unmanned aircraft (drone) delivery of a COVID-19 vaccine in August 2021. In addition, the Journal of Healthcare Contracting recognized him as a Ten People to Watch in 2022.
He sits on the board of directors for Heineman-Robicsek Foundation, the International Medical Outreach (IMO) program which provides healthcare facilities abroad with more modern, functional equipment to meet the most urgent, basic needs in their communities.
Conrad holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida. He is highly active in his community of Winston-Salem, NC, sitting on several local boards and supporting not-for-profit organizations.
