Dr. Stacy Brethauer is a bariatric surgeon and Professor of Surgery at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he is the interim Chief Quality and Patient Safety Officer and the Medical Director of Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Brethauer completed his residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego and his fellowship at Cleveland Clinic. He is the past president of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and chairs the Committee for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at the American College of Surgeons. He also serves on the American Board of Surgery’s General Surgery Board where he chairs the Qualifying Exam committee.

Dr. Brethauer has published over 220 peer-reviewed papers, over 40 book chapters, and has co-edited four textbooks on bariatric surgery.
