Thomas Biel currently serves as a Service Line Advisor at Lumere, with a focus on the cardiovascular, interventional radiology, and general surgery service lines. In this role, he pairs evidence-based recommendations with device utilization trends to assist clients in reducing unwarranted care variation and unnecessary device costs. 
 
Beginning in academia, Biel worked in two academic research laboratories where he co-authored a number of peer-reviewed scientific papers focused on cardiovascular disease and cell migration. Biel then pursued his passion for medical devices and transforming healthcare by joining Lumere in 2017. He first worked as a medical device analyst and then medical device specialist on Lumere’s Research team. In these roles, he developed a comprehensive understanding of medical devices and clinical evidence to generate actionable recommendations in support of value-based medical device purchasing. 
 
Biel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University.
