Chandra White is a licensed funeral director/embalmer and former deputy coroner. She developed the Office of Decedent Affairs for Barnes Jewish Hospital (BJH) and St. Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) in St. Louis, MO in 2017 and currently serves as Manager. BJH and SLCH are level one trauma centers and are ranked among the nation’s best hospitals. 
 
Over the COVID-19 pandemic she served as BJC HealthCare Incident Command Demise Management Task Force Leader, which encompasses decedent management for the enterprise. Her role continues for the enterprise as the BJC Healthcare Decedent Management Consultant for their fourteen hospitals. 
 
White held an intricate part of the development of the “first in the nation,” GHX Decedent Management software program and is used within her hospital setting today. In addition to standardizing how these services are managed across the system, centralized oversight will reduce risk, improve key stakeholder experience when a death occurs and provide dignified aftercare to families who are mourning a loss.
