Matt Mentel is currently the president and CEO of Strategic Optimization and Innovation Partners LLC. He brings to his clients more than 29 years of experience in health care including over 23 years in strategic execution, innovative leadership, supply chain, finance, operations, project management and information technology. In addition, over the past six years Mentel has been heavily involved in setting the vision, strategy and execution for the operational integration between supply chain, finance and clinical operations. Mentel has held leadership roles in large health systems and has led initiatives from the frontline to the board of directors.

Mentel is passionate about the transformation of healthcare and the leveraging of strategic assets, like supply chain, technology and finance, to enhance clinical workflow, optimize caregiver experience and improve outcomes. Mentel uses his experiences and background to assist healthcare providers in
establishing and ensuring strategic alignment and operational excellence across all verticals, capitalizing on industry best practice and creating a strategy for the execution of healthcare redesign appropriate for the business. This work is lifted by leveraging strong cross functional relationships, matrixed leadership, process reengineering and extensive operational and execution expertise. Mentel operates under the core belief that success is demonstrated by focusing on right structure, engaged people, standardized processes, and solutions for sustainability all focused on the redesign of healthcare and enrichment of the experience for caregivers and patients.

Mentel is a Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP) and has been the leader and is a member of the Healthcare Transformation Group (HTG), the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) and Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). He is active in the industry leading and engaging with thought leaders around the transformation of health care and the adoption of data standards.

Mentel received a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems with a Certificate in Health Information Management, a Master of Health Administration, and a Master of Business Administration from St. Louis University.
